Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient clinic operations and excellent patient experience. This role will support patient care by taking medical histories, capturing and documenting patient vital signs, requesting and updating patient medical records, and providing documentation for patients or members of the healthcare team while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, gather patient history, take and record vital signs, prepare patients for examination, and document all information in patient medical records.
• Chart preparation and maintenance.
• Support delivery of high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families, and other care providers while ensuring a safe patient care environment.
• Assist physicians and/or advanced practice providers in preparing and conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct guidance and supervision.
• Perform applicable medical procedures, collect, and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by physicians, advanced practice providers, or nursing staff and ensure patient understanding of the information.
• Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments, and communicate test results to patients.
• Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
• Respond to calls and requests for referrals and appointments, triage and process messages, and requests from patients, clinic staff, referring physicians, and pharmacies.
• Maintain patient files, records, and other information.

Qualifications:

• Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
• MA certification required; if not currently certified, certification must be obtained within 6 months to 1 year dependent on state requirements.
• 1+ years' experience in an office-based setting preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Ability to follow universal precautions and maintain OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
