Job Description

The Medical Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely billing of medical services. This position collaborates with various departments to ensure seamless communication and efficient claim processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with patients regarding medical supplies and equipment needs.
  • Respond to medical billing inquiries from patients.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage/benefits for patients.
  • Update patient, insurance, and inventory records using billing software.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external providers to resolve claims issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, computer processing skills, and excellent communication abilities. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a minimum of two years of medical supplies and/or billing experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in a related field and prior experience with HCPC, ICD-10, and HCFA are highly desirable.
