The John Geigle Branch has been a cornerstone of the community for over 25 years, featuring an outdoor pool, splash pad, extensive wellness center, tennis/pickleball courts, sports fields, and various studios for diverse programming. This branch plays a vital role in the community, collaborating with numerous local organizations to offer swim lessons, summer camps, group exercise, and evidence-based wellness programs. The advisory council is dedicated to our philanthropic and community development initiatives, focusing on Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.

A Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, business, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of six years of management experience, ideally within a YMCA or similar nonprofit organization, is required. The candidate should possess the ability to oversee total operations, including volunteer development, staff supervision, budget management, marketing, public relations, and program development. Experience in managing and developing volunteer engagement is essential, along with the ability to connect with diverse community groups. A proven track record of building authentic relationships and collaborating with community organizations is necessary. Strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills are also required. The candidate must meet the YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria and be able to handle physical and mental demands, including considerable sitting, standing, walking, and managing stress and multiple priorities.

YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Program and Facility Management

  • Oversee and manage all branch operations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Design and implement a diverse range of programs and activities that optimize facility use, support the YMCA’s mission, and enhance membership.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment by reporting any suspicious activities that may indicate child abuse or violate conduct codes. Maintain high-quality facilities and equipment.
  • Lead initiatives to promote and monitor membership growth.
Staff and Volunteer Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and develop staff and volunteers using Leadership Competency Model resources.
  • Facilitate the development of the branch board and committees, directing volunteer activities.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Advisory Board to advance branch initiatives.
Financial Oversight
  • Prepare the annual budget for approval by the Senior Vice President/COO.
  • Recommend adjustments and manage the budget to maintain a balanced operational budget.
Community Engagement
  • Represent and advocate for the YMCA within the local community, fostering positive relationships with organizations, businesses, and government entities.
  • Communicate the YMCA’s objectives and programs through public channels and active community participation.
Fundraising Initiatives
  • Utilize storytelling to enhance our mission and fundraising efforts.
  • Organize and lead Community Support Campaigns in collaboration with staff and volunteers, adhering to Association standards.
