Position Summary: The Compliance Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the upkeep of MCU's Compliance Management System. This position serves as a key resource on consumer finance regulations, proactively identifies areas for process enhancement, and facilitates necessary adjustments. The Compliance Operations Manager ensures the effective execution of compliance initiatives in collaboration with external legal advisors, vendors, and internal teams, while also managing member inquiries related to compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of the Credit Union's Compliance Management System, including conducting risk assessments and compliance monitoring.
  • Oversee external legal counsel and compliance vendors to optimize departmental resources.
  • Identify and report compliance issues stemming from reviews, member feedback, or regulatory audits, fostering collaboration across all business units to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Administer compliance training for relevant staff throughout the organization.
  • Review and draft responses to member inquiries and complaints.
  • Evaluate marketing materials for compliance with consumer protection regulations.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership regarding compliance program status and industry trends.
  • Act as a liaison during compliance audits and examinations.
  • Conduct special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Analyze new regulations and their implications for business operations.
  • Guide departmental staff in their daily compliance-related tasks, ensuring timely and effective performance.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in banking or compliance, with certifications such as JD, CRCM, or NCCO preferred.
  • Significant experience in consumer compliance, ideally within a credit union environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state consumer compliance laws.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a sense of urgency.
  • Effective prioritization and resource allocation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly ethical.
