Job Title: Cloud Cost Analyst

ASRC Federal Holding Company is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Cost Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the federal Project Manager to support a federal government agency located in Silver Spring, MD.

Job Summary:

The Cloud Cost Analyst will provide advice and guidance in NESDIS development of FinOps policies and governance to align Federal budget processes to FinOps Framework. This includes understanding Cloud Usage and Costs, Performance tracking and benchmarking, Real-time decision making, and Organizational alignment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and enforce cloud cost management policies, guidance, and best practices across the organization.
  • Work closely with project teams to establish and manage cloud budgets, implement effective cost management and optimization strategies.
  • Implement monitoring mechanisms to track cloud costs in real time and proactively address anomalies and deviations from spend plans.
  • Analyze cloud usage and cost trends, identify cost drivers, and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to forecast future cloud usage and costs, providing insights in budget planning and resource allocation.
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate cost-related insights, trends, and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field plus 10 years' experience.
Essential Skills:
  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing, cost structures, and billing models.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted advocate for the customer.
  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for Government.
  • Certification in Cloud FinOps is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NOAA Cloud processes and organizational structures a plus.
  • Existing knowledge of NESDIS satellite portfolio a plus.
