This role is pivotal in advising on the development of financial operations (FinOps) policies and governance, ensuring alignment with federal budgeting processes and the FinOps Framework.
Key Responsibilities
The Cloud Financial Analyst will be responsible for:
- Policy Formulation: Develop and implement cloud cost management policies and best practices throughout the organization.
- Financial Oversight: Partner with project teams to create and oversee cloud budgets, employing effective cost management and optimization techniques.
- Ongoing Surveillance: Establish real-time monitoring systems to track cloud expenditures and swiftly address any discrepancies.
- Cost Evaluation: Examine cloud usage and expenditure patterns, pinpoint cost influencers, and offer actionable insights for financial efficiency.
- Budget Forecasting: Work with stakeholders to project future cloud usage and costs, aiding in budget formulation and resource distribution.
- Insight Reporting: Produce regular analytical reports and dashboards to relay cost-related findings and recommendations to management and relevant parties.
- Industry Awareness: Stay informed about emerging trends, new cloud services, and pricing structures to maintain organizational competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline, complemented by 10 years of professional experience.
Candidates must demonstrate:
- A comprehensive understanding of cloud pricing models and billing frameworks.
- Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
- Experience with cloud cost management solutions.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office applications.
Desirable attributes include:
- A proven track record as a trusted advisor to clients.
- Familiarity with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) in a governmental context.
- Certification in Cloud FinOps is advantageous.
- Knowledge of NOAA cloud operations and organizational frameworks is a plus.
- Existing familiarity with NESDIS satellite initiatives is beneficial.
