Position OverviewThis role encompasses a range of responsibilities in the recruitment of potential students and the guidance of existing students, including both undergraduate and graduate advising. The position is pivotal in managing admissions and scholarship processes. The incumbent is tasked with strategizing and executing promotional activities for the department, utilizing marketing techniques and public relations skills, which also involves engaging with alumni. Independent judgment and discretion are frequently exercised in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Acts as an admissions advisor for transfer, undergraduate, and graduate candidates; evaluates academic records for high school applicants.
- Facilitates admissions counseling and recruitment initiatives.
- Provides guidance to students regarding career and co-op opportunities, including assistance with resume and interview preparation.
- Organizes and participates in outreach visits to community colleges within a designated area, conducting meetings with prospective students while fostering relationships with alumni, community college advisors, and corporate human resource representatives.
- Identifies students at risk and formulates strategies to offer necessary support.
- Maintains ongoing communication with alumni and connects current students with alumni for mentorship opportunities.
- Visits high schools or community colleges within the assigned area to engage with prospective students and build relationships with alumni and school counselors.
- Assesses applicants for admissions and scholarship opportunities.
- Reviews admissions documentation to ensure completeness through follow-up communication.
- Addresses inquiries from students and parents regarding admissions and communicates with scholarship recipients.
- Serves as a liaison to other university departments concerning admissions and financial aid/scholarships.
- Develops communication strategies and promotional materials aimed at student recruitment.
- Coordinates, plans, and promotes departmental events, including orientation and graduation.
- Corresponds with K-12 educators regarding annual workshops and grant opportunities.
- Manages the department's website and social media platforms for students and alumni.
- Consults with local businesses to recruit non-traditional students.
- Coordinates and analyzes data from the prospect tracking system.
- Represents the university in admissions and recruitment activities.
- Serves as the administrator on duty for evening classes, addressing issues in the absence of other staff members.
- Supervises admissions counselors and additional support personnel.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified by the hiring department:
- Serves as an academic advisor to both current and prospective students.
- Oversees the evaluation process for student admissions and scholarships.
- Directs recruitment and outreach efforts for the department.
- Acts as a liaison to other university departments.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
Experience:
Three (3) years of relevant experience related to the duties described above.
Substitution Statement:
