Position OverviewThis role encompasses a range of responsibilities in the recruitment of potential students and the support of existing students, which includes both undergraduate and graduate advising. The individual in this position will oversee admissions and scholarship processes. The incumbent will engage in promoting the department through various marketing strategies and public relations efforts, which involve networking with alumni. Independent judgment and discretion are frequently exercised in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Acts as an admissions advisor for transfer, undergraduate, and graduate candidates; assesses transcripts for high school applicants.
- Facilitates admissions counseling and recruitment initiatives.
- Guides students regarding career and co-op opportunities, including assistance with resume and interview preparation.
- Organizes and participates in outreach activities with community colleges in the assigned area, conducting meetings with prospective students while fostering relationships with alumni, community college advisors, and corporate human resource directors.
- Identifies students at risk and formulates strategies to provide necessary support.
- Maintains connections with alumni and facilitates mentoring opportunities for students.
- Visits educational institutions within the designated region to meet with prospective students, while building relationships with alumni and school counselors.
- Evaluates candidates for admissions and scholarship opportunities.
- Reviews admissions documentation to ensure completeness through follow-up communication.
- Addresses inquiries from students and parents regarding admissions and communicates with scholarship recipients.
- Serves as a liaison to other university departments concerning admissions and financial aid/scholarships.
- Develops communication strategies and promotional materials for student recruitment.
- Coordinates, plans, and promotes departmental events, including orientation and graduation.
- Corresponds with K-12 educators regarding annual workshops and grant opportunities.
- Manages the department's website and social media platforms for students and alumni.
- Consults with local businesses for the recruitment of non-traditional students.
- Coordinates and analyzes data from the prospect tracking system.
- Represents the university in admissions and recruitment efforts.
- Serves as the administrator on duty for evening classes and addresses issues in the absence of other staff members.
- Supervises admissions counselors and additional support personnel.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified by the hiring department:
- Acts as an academic advisor to both current and prospective students.
- Oversees the evaluation process for admissions and scholarships.
- Directs recruitment and outreach initiatives for the department.
- Serves as a liaison to other university departments.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
Experience:
Three (3) years of relevant experience related to the duties described above.
Substitution Statement:
Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education, as approved by the Department of Human Resources.
