Job Summary:

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and conditions. Under the supervision of a physician, you will perform a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including in vivo and in vitro therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals. Your expertise will be essential in obtaining high-quality scan images and ensuring the safe handling and disposal of radioactive materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate patient exams and studies, retrieving and processing patient requisitions, and reviewing requests for pertinent information.
  2. Perform clinical imaging procedures, including SPECT and diagnostic studies, using scanners and scintillation cameras, following established protocols and guidelines.
  3. Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, Well counters, and scintillation detectors, adhering to radiation safety techniques.
  4. Conduct in vitro laboratory tests using various equipment, including test tubes, water baths, pH meters, and scintillation counting equipment.
  5. Perform quality assurance and control procedures, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of imaging results.
  6. Obtain and format high-quality images and worksheets, archiving and logging studies for future reference.
  7. Receive, survey, wipe, and monitor shipments of radiopharmaceuticals, documenting all activities.
  8. Administer radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a physician, drawing blood from patients and accurately recording amounts of radioactive material administered.
  9. Perform radionuclide therapy procedures, adhering to department protocols and physician instructions.
Requirements:
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology, physiology, radiobiology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics related to nuclear medicine.
  • Ability to scan independently, using initiative and judgment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of clinical experience as a CNMT.
