Sales Engineer and Business Growth Specialist

Overview:
In the role of Sales Engineer and Business Growth Specialist, you will take charge of generating new business opportunities for the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying potential clients, conducting onsite meetings, and creating opportunities for quotes. Your goal will be to secure new contracts that surpass sales targets while also fostering growth within existing customer accounts. You will collaborate closely with the management team and customer service representatives, utilizing company-provided customer relationship management tools to oversee all sales-related activities, including opportunities, client visits, and estimates.

Required Experience:
A background in selling flexible packaging products is essential, including items such as printed plastic and paper bags, printed roll stock, and pouches.

Industry Connections:
Having established contacts or a book of business within the Soil/Fertilizer, Pet Food, and Agricultural sectors will be highly advantageous.

Territory:
The role will focus on the Pacific Northwest/NOCAL region, with Washington State serving as the home base.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet and exceed annual new business sales targets.
  • Achieve sales goals for existing customer accounts.
  • Identify strategic sales opportunities within the designated territory and introduce our company to these prospects. Utilize personal knowledge, networking, and marketing resources to generate leads for sales growth.
  • Employ innovative techniques to secure meetings with decision-makers.
  • Drive new business sales by qualifying customer needs onsite, providing detailed product information and pricing, and communicating the company's value proposition.
  • Use CRM software to document new business contacts, track activities (such as visits, estimates, and sample testing), and maintain organized records.
  • Develop marketing and sales strategies for new business expansion.
  • Create tailored customer presentations and proposals for new business opportunities, enhancing existing company presentations.
  • Actively participate in group sales meetings, sharing presentations, success stories, and challenges for collective learning and success.
  • Provide data on won/loss ratios along with reasons for all estimates.
  • Address customer product issues and handle complaints as necessary.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, new products, and services relevant to customers.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events as needed.
  • Must possess a valid passport.
  • Travel as required to explore new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Must have a home office setup and a personally insured vehicle.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in printed flexible packaging sales, demonstrating a consistent record of growth in new and existing customer sales.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in sales techniques, including securing face-to-face meetings with decision-makers and overcoming sales objections.
  • Demonstrated ability to close sales and drive growth in the assigned territory.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with prospects and customers.
  • Understanding of the sales landscape in the assigned area.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proactive problem solver, accountable to both customers and company management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Comfortable working from a home office environment.
Work Environment:
  • This position will primarily involve working from home, with regular travel throughout the assigned territory. Travel is expected to be up to 50% annually.
  • Compensation includes a salary plus uncapped incentives, a car allowance, a laptop, and coverage for home office, phone, and travel expenses.
