Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Controls Engineer.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Specification and acquisition of instrumentation for large-scale gas turbine systems. Development and upkeep of all related documentation for instrumentation. Management of control logic documentation for gas turbines. Assist project engineering teams in fulfilling customer instrumentation requirements. Evaluate bids and provide support for new gas turbine projects.

Key Responsibilities

Identify customer requirements for instrumentation and control contracts along with delivery timelines. Develop a procurement schedule for instrumentation. Draft technical specifications and requests for quotations for instrumentation. Assess supplier quotations for accuracy. Ensure all instrumentation aligns with system P&IDs and compile instrument lists. Create and maintain instrument loops. Generate data sheets for instrumentation. Produce drawings related to instrumentation. Oversee the creation of input documents necessary for I/O list development. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders within budget and time constraints. Work closely with design engineers, operations teams, procurement, sales, and marketing personnel. Address customer feedback on all relevant drawings. Develop and maintain procedures and checklists for instrumentation and controls. Troubleshoot and resolve issues at various project locations. Ensure compliance with technical standards relevant to the operational region. Interpret and apply relevant codes such as ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, AGA, etc. Conduct vendor qualifications as necessary. Travel Requirements – up to 15%

Maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Familiarity with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) and Smart Plant 3D (S3D). Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for instrumentation as needed. Support field operations with on-site instrumentation installation when required. Provide commissioning support and troubleshooting for equipment failures, conducting root cause analysis and implementing solutions.

Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience in specific I&C disciplines applicable to power generation. Language Proficiency: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from various stakeholders. Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Capable of applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical scenarios. Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of interpreting a wide range of technical instructions in various forms and managing multiple variables. Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with database management, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, email, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, and PDF editing tools. Key skills for controls: Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, SIMATIC, Ovation, Delta V, graphic screens. Key skills for instrumentation: Pressure transmitters, switches, gauges, control valves, thermocouples, RTDs, vibration sensors, speed sensors, positioners, LVDTs, level sensors, calorimeters, CEMS, emissions monitoring. Key skills for plant control systems: Balance of Plant (BoP), I/O counts, I/O lists, signal interfaces, remote I/O, wiring, combined cycle plant operations, high-performance graphics.
