Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is seeking a skilled Controls and Instrumentation Engineer.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for the specification and acquisition of instrumentation for large gas turbine systems. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to instrumentation. Oversee the upkeep of control logic documentation for gas turbines. Assist project engineering teams in fulfilling customer instrumentation requirements. Evaluate bids and provide support for new gas turbine projects.

Key Responsibilities

Identify customer requirements for instrumentation and control contracts, including delivery timelines. Formulate a procurement schedule for instrumentation. Draft technical specifications and requests for quotes related to instrumentation. Assess supplier quotations for accuracy. Ensure all instrumentation aligns with system P&IDs and compile an instrument list. Create and maintain instrument loops. Generate data sheets for various instrumentation components. Produce technical drawings for instrumentation. Provide essential design input for the development of I/O lists. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, contractors, and project management within budget and time constraints. Work closely with design engineers, operations teams, procurement, sales, and marketing personnel. Address customer feedback on all relevant drawings. Develop and maintain procedures and checklists for instrumentation and controls. Troubleshoot and resolve issues at various project locations. Ensure compliance with local technical standards. Interpret and apply relevant codes such as ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, and AGA. Conduct vendor qualifications as necessary. Travel Requirements – up to 15%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) and Smart Plant 3D (S3D). Experience conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for instrumentation. Support field operations with on-site instrumentation installation when necessary. Provide commissioning and troubleshooting support for equipment failures, conducting root cause analysis and implementing solutions.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution; a minimum of five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience in instrumentation and controls applicable to power generation. Language Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical manuals, and regulations. Proficient in writing reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills: Competence in mathematical concepts including probability, statistics, and geometry. Reasoning Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with database management, project management software, spreadsheets, and word processing tools. Key skills for controls: Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, SIMATIC, Ovation, Delta V. Key skills for instrumentation: Pressure transmitters, control valves, thermocouples, and emissions monitoring systems. Key skills for plant control systems: Balance of Plant (BoP), I/O lists, signal interfaces, and combined cycle plant operations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
