Job Overview

As a Remittance Processing Specialist I, you will be responsible for the accurate handling of customer payments and the management of remittance processing equipment. Your role will involve a variety of tasks that ensure efficient processing and communication with clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare customer payments for processing.
  • Coordinate the setup and maintenance of remittance processing equipment.
  • Conduct research and make necessary adjustments.
  • Process exception items as required.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies for remittance processing.
  • Prepare outgoing notices for negotiable instruments, such as bonds and food stamps.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to lift or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Strong understanding of remittance processing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with clients and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with practices and procedures for verifying and distributing computer output.
  • Knowledge of client transaction processing and computer operations.
  • Understanding of item processing techniques.
  • Familiarity with client specifications for remittance processing.
  • Knowledge of offline and peripheral equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to organize and sequence work effectively.
  • Skill in identifying errors in calculations and balances.

Job Level Description
This is an entry-level position requiring basic skills with a moderate level of proficiency. The role demands a general understanding of remittance processing and involves working under close to moderate supervision to ensure accuracy. You will have the opportunity to consult with senior peers to enhance your learning experience. Typically, this position requires up to one year of relevant experience in remittance processing or a similar field.
