Position Overview
The Physician Assistant delivers specialized nursing care tailored to the unique needs of patients experiencing acute, critical, or complex chronic health issues or injuries. This role involves collaboration with a physician in accordance with state regulations and operates within the scope defined by the nurse practitioner's specialty certification and institutional medical bylaws. The position is based in an inpatient unit.

Work Schedule and Shifts:
The employee will work 10-hour shifts from 6 AM to 4 PM, including rotations on weekends and holidays in a hospital environment.

Incentives:
Additional bonuses are available for weekend, holiday, and extra shifts beyond the standard schedule.

Clinic Overview:
Minimal commitment is expected from team members in supporting post-hospital discharge care.

Team Dynamics:
Advanced practice practitioners (APPs) in critical care collaborate with physicians, nurses, and specialists, sharing responsibilities.

Daily Responsibilities:
Managing patient care includes taking medical histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing and treating conditions, prescribing medications, and stabilizing patients through informed medical decisions. This involves collaborating with ancillary team members, coordinating multi-specialty care, and providing education to families regarding the patient's medical situation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts comprehensive physical assessments and examinations.
  • Evaluates and advises patients while gathering medical histories.
  • Monitors patient compliance with treatment protocols.
  • Facilitates screening for research initiatives.
  • Collects and documents data according to research standards.
  • Creates and implements adherence strategies aligned with protocols.
  • Processes billing for professional services as allowed by collaborative agreements.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for abnormalities.
  • Prescribes treatments or medications with physician consent.
  • Orders or performs diagnostic tests, including x-rays and lab work.
  • Executes therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, and wound care.
  • Assists physicians during surgical or complex medical procedures.
  • Engages in professional development through educational programs and workshops.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, quality assurance, safety, and infection control standards.

Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

Basic Life Support certification from recognized organizations.

Salary Information:
Annual salary range: $86,000 - $155,500.

The salary range reflects base salaries for positions within a specific job grade. Individual compensation will be influenced by qualifications, performance, departmental equity, market rates, and budget considerations.
