Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a Senior Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical operations of our faculty group practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Support
    • Assist physicians and/or Advanced Care Practitioners and nurses in providing patient care
    • Validate patient identifiers, prepare patients and rooms for examination, measure and record vital signs, draw blood, and collect other lab samples
    • Perform Point of Care testing, such as EKG, Glucose Testing, and Pregnancy Test, Urinalysis, following organizational policy & procedure
  • Administrative Support
    • Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, and perform data entry
    • Support quality initiatives by following FGP guidelines for collecting and documenting information in the EMR
    • Communicate effectively with providers and administrative staff, escalate issues
  • Training and Development
    • Serve as primary trainer for new hires
    • Assist with training and in-servicing Medical Assistant staff
  • Patient Experience and Access
    • Drive consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of our FGP Service Strategy CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off)
    • Proactively anticipate patient needs, and participate in service recovery by applying the LEARN model (Listen, Empathize, Apologize, Resolve, Notify)
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution OR upon hire hold a current medical assistant Certification from a Nationally Recognized accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of Medical Assistant Experience in a faculty group practice or hospital setting
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization
