Position Overview

The Principal Project Controls Consultant plays a crucial role in the strategic planning and scheduling of projects, encompassing the formulation of tasks derived from technical drawings and scopes of work. This position provides essential support to project management and team members regarding baseline schedules, critical success factors, float management, and schedule logic. The consultant may take on a leadership role in various projects. Additionally, this role involves monitoring and managing the costs associated with engineering labor, expenses, subcontractors, and other financial elements throughout the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction phases of projects using the company's financial accounting systems and reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold the Company's commitment to safety and core values.

  • Create detailed project schedules based on estimated manhours.
  • Comprehend the project execution strategy and document any modifications to the plan.
  • Facilitate the preparation of periodic project earned value and productivity assessments.
  • Develop schedules for proposals.
  • Collaborate with estimating team members to provide necessary proposal support.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Formulate and implement a project controls execution and reporting strategy in collaboration with the project manager and project engineer.
  • Oversee and maintain the schedule and milestones for deliverables.
  • Work alongside the project manager on change orders, analyzing reports to identify potential issues.
  • Guide junior team members in their professional development.
  • Conduct reviews of manpower forecasts.
  • Prepare budget adjustments and labor corrections in coordination with the accounting team and other team members.
  • Process approved changes and budget adjustments into the project budget.
  • Generate forecasts at completion (EAC) based on current expenditures, commitments, and trends relative to the project.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Extensive experience with Primavera (P6) planning software.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction and engineering practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • This position may require occasional travel to project sites.
