Position Overview

The Chief Marketing Officer plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of Life University Inc. Reporting directly to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, this individual serves as the primary representative of the University’s brand. The CMO is tasked with overseeing all facets of marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Strategic Plan and fostering collaboration among marketing professionals both within and outside the organization.

This role demands a visionary leader who is adept at recognizing and harnessing opportunities for growth. The CMO must effectively integrate creative strategies, communication, and technology to enhance the University’s presence and drive engagement on both local and global scales. Strong communication skills are essential to convey marketing strategies in an accessible manner.

Key Responsibilities

Core Functions

  1. Collaborate with internal departments such as Enrollment, IT, and the Executive Office, as well as external partners, to create comprehensive project specifications with defined deliverables and timelines.
  2. Oversee the production process for both print and digital media, from initial concept through to final execution, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and quality standards.
  3. Direct graphic design efforts and project management, ensuring seamless integration with the overall creative strategy.
  4. Manage a variety of communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  5. Lead the development and maintenance of the University’s websites, spearheading new digital initiatives.
  6. Establish and implement marketing policies and strategies that align with the University’s objectives.
  7. Administer the marketing budget, ensuring all projects remain within financial constraints.
  8. Coordinate the planning and execution of significant University events.
  9. Oversee project scope and staffing to align with budgetary expectations.
  10. Manage stakeholder expectations, proactively addressing potential issues and providing solutions.
  11. Implement effective tracking mechanisms to evaluate the success of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  12. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the target audience to tailor marketing efforts effectively.
  13. Provide performance analysis and reporting to the Provost.
Qualifications

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field.
  2. 10-15 years of experience in a professional marketing environment, including supervisory roles.
  3. Extensive knowledge of creative production processes and project management.
  4. Experience managing both in-house teams and external creative professionals.
  5. Proven ability to cultivate productive relationships with vendors and partners.
  6. Experience in conducting performance evaluations and fostering team development.
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal clients, delivering high-quality creative solutions.

Preferred

  1. Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, or Digital Media.
  2. Ability to maintain focus and composure under production pressures.
  3. Experience in an educational setting.
  4. Exceptional multitasking capabilities.
