Position Summary
The Operations Accounting Manager will oversee general accounting activities and the generation of reports and statistics that reflect earnings, profits, cash balances, and other financial outcomes.
This role involves formulating and enforcing approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operational reports accurately represent the business's condition and provide reliable information necessary for operational control.
Key Performance Indicators- Precise revenue reporting, including deferrals
- Management of inventory obsolescence in collaboration with operations
- No significant out-of-period adjustments
The Operations Accounting Manager will lead a team of accounting professionals to support field operations across various business units, focusing on the following:
- Ensure accurate monthly revenue reporting
- Oversee the revenue recognition process to ensure compliance with accounting principles regarding deferred revenue, flux analyses, and related controls
- Guide the development and implementation of new accounting policies and maintain existing ones
- Review customer contracts for revenue recognition compliance with company policies and standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly revenue close process
- Assist finance teams in forecasting and annual budgeting
- Provide in-depth analysis and insights to operational functions to support business growth initiatives
- Collaborate closely with Transactional Services for expedited collections and FP&A partners on forecasting
- Review financial results monthly, focusing on revenue and materials & supplies trends, and recommend corrective actions to address variances from the plan
- Communicate any significant changes to forecasts or budgets promptly
- Work with product/marketing teams to assess the impact of new product offerings on accounting
- Coordinate with M&A to integrate new acquisitions into the technology stack
- Develop, manage, and mentor staff members within the Operations Accounting team to promote career advancement
- Ensure compliance with assigned controls and company policies with a risk-based approach
- Identify and implement efficiencies, automation, and acceleration for the close process
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and prepare detailed fluctuation analyses for accounting leadership
- Safeguard the security and integrity of financial information
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Perform other duties as assigned
Candidate ProfileRequired Experience
- Over 6 years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Experience managing a large team and overseeing team members
- Experience in a multi-unit organization
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong working relationships with leaders and act as a partner in financial decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment while delivering reliable solutions with exceptional execution and customer service.
- Capable of working independently, establishing priorities and objectives with leadership support.
- Skilled in focusing on desired outcomes, determining priorities, identifying next steps, and effectively meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience - Required
- MBA in finance, accounting, or a related field - Preferred
