Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to join our team. As a CDI Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records to ensure accurate and compliant reimbursement for acute care services. This role involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for enhancing documentation and coding practices.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting and hold a current RN license. A CCDS certification within 2 years of hire date is also required. Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review audit finding letters from third-party payers to obtain a clear understanding of audited charges.
  • Analyze medical records and review the charges on the UB04 and itemized bill line by line to confirm if audited charges are supported in the records.
  • Update the charge master system as needed based on charge reviews.
  • Perform charge audit reviews on high-dollar claims prior to billing to ensure all billed charges are supported in the medical records and to identify any missed charges.
