Compensation: $16 / HourPosition Summary:

The Sales Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting Outside Sales Representatives and their clientele by promoting and selling construction materials, including lumber and maintenance supplies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate lists of potential customers for sales leads based on inquiries received.
  • Conduct outbound follow-up calls to both prospective and existing clients via phone and email to qualify leads and promote products and services.
  • Manage incoming sales inquiries to convert them into successful sales.
  • Address inquiries and concerns from potential and current customers using consultative selling techniques to identify needs and devise effective solutions.
  • Highlight product features, provide pricing information, and prepare sales orders for completed transactions.
  • Collaborate with corporate, store, and commercial management to meet sales goals and uphold service standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and alert the Inventory Coordinator or management when reorders are necessary.
  • Facilitate special orders for items that are not in stock but requested by customers.
  • Estimate product quantities for potential projects and create competitive pricing proposals to encourage sales.
  • Schedule deliveries in coordination with customers and the Delivery Coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Compile reports on sales activities.
  • Input new customer information and sales data into the database.
  • Assist outside sales representatives in maintaining up-to-date account information and marketing materials.
  • Help resolve customer complaints, escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Investigate and address customer concerns regarding deliveries, product quality, or service issues.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in operating various equipment, such as cash registers and scanners.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for residential and multi-family construction projects is preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of building materials and local building regulations.
  • Familiarity with the company's products and services, as well as customer-related policies.
Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training, including levels 1 and 2 of the designated training program.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer or related equipment.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds regularly and occasionally lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over extended periods.
