Overview

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is responsible for the assessment, planning, and delivery of specialized occupational therapy services for children. This role operates under the guidance of a physician, employing initiative to execute treatment plans and leverage available resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the child's current functional abilities and create tailored, measurable treatment objectives, implementing interventions suited to the child's age, condition, diagnosis, and learning requirements.
  • Conduct evaluations for pediatric patients, addressing conditions such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders, Trauma, ADHD, and various genetic disorders.
  • Deliver timely and effective evaluations and re-evaluations throughout the patient's developmental stages.
  • Guide and assist patients in both active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, daily living activities, transfer techniques, functional training, prosthetic training, safety measures, and educational support.
  • Provide guidance and support to family members involved in the child's care.
  • Evaluate the home and/or educational environment of the child to ensure appropriate therapeutic support.
  • May be required to deliver occupational therapy services within educational settings as necessary.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Comply with the regulations established by the Occupational Therapy Licensing Board in the State of Oregon.
  • Educate families on safe and effective participation in daily activities, implementing necessary adaptations and modifications.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completion of an Occupational Therapy educational program with a Master's or Doctoral degree.
  • Annual licensure from the Oregon Occupational Therapist Licensing Board is mandatory.
  • Completion of 30 hours of continuing education every two years is required for licensure.
  • Current CPR certification is essential.
  • A valid Driver's License is necessary.
  • Dependable transportation with insurance coverage is required.
