Role Overview

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing specialized occupational therapy services for children. Working under the guidance of a physician, the therapist employs creativity and resourcefulness to execute tailored treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the child's current functional abilities and create personalized, measurable treatment objectives, while determining suitable interventions based on the child's age, condition, diagnosis, and educational needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric patients, including those diagnosed with Autism, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders, Trauma, ADHD, and various genetic conditions.
  • Provide timely and effective evaluations and re-evaluations for patients across different developmental stages.
  • Guide and assist patients in both active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education, daily living activities, mobility training, functional skills, safety practices, and educational support.
  • Offer guidance and emotional support to family members.
  • Evaluate the patient's home and/or educational environment.
  • May be tasked with delivering occupational therapy services within educational settings.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Comply with the regulations established by the Occupational Therapy Licensing Board in Oregon.
  • Educate families on safe and effective participation in daily activities, implementing necessary adaptations and modifications.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a Master's or Doctoral degree.
  • Annual licensure from the Oregon Occupational Therapist Licensing Board is mandatory.
  • Completion of 30 hours of continuing education every two years is required for licensure renewal.
  • Current CPR certification is essential.
  • A valid Driver's License is necessary.
  • Dependable transportation with insurance coverage is required.
