Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist on a PRN basis to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology and possess a current license (ABESPA) issued by the State of Alabama. Additionally, a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required. Experience in assessing and treating acute inpatient issues related to speech and swallowing, as well as pediatric experience, is preferred.

This role involves conducting Modified Barium Swallow studies and working within an acute hospital environment, including swing bed units and outpatient clinics.


Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments for patients with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders, as well as swallowing difficulties, in compliance with state regulations and departmental policies.

- Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans that are result-oriented and tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient, ensuring clear and measurable goals are established.

- Provide guidance and support to staff and family members regarding speech therapy practices.

- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures.

- Diagnose and address speech and language challenges while engaging in research related to human communication.

- Evaluate speech and language abilities considering educational, medical, social, and psychological influences.

- Design and lead rehabilitative programs aimed at restoring effective communication for individuals facing both organic and nonorganic communication issues.
