We are currently seeking a skilled Chief Computing Officer to join our team. This role is a contract-to-hire opportunity with significant long-term potential. Please find the details of the position outlined below.

Job Overview:

Compensation: $60 - $65/hour. Employee benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave.

Position Summary:

  • The ideal candidate will spearhead the development and enhancement of our Computing program.
  • This leadership position entails the strategic planning, execution, and ongoing refinement of an innovative computing curriculum.
  • The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, industry professionals, and students to ensure the curriculum is aligned with the latest technological advancements and industry requirements.
  • This role encompasses both academic and administrative duties, providing a unique chance to influence the future of computing education.
  • Direct reporting will be to the Chief Academic Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic design and continuous improvement of the Computing curriculum.
  • Ensure the curriculum incorporates rigorous theoretical foundations alongside practical applications.
  • Integrate the latest developments in computing technologies and methodologies into the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching and assessment strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty to create course content, teaching materials, and assessment tools.
  • Mentor faculty in adopting modern pedagogical approaches and integrating emerging technologies into their teaching.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative learning environment for faculty and students alike.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with industry leaders to keep the curriculum relevant to industry needs.
  • Facilitate internships, co-op programs, and industry-sponsored projects to provide students with real-world experience.
  • Invite industry experts for guest lectures, workshops, and feedback on the curriculum.
  • Develop a comprehensive evaluation system to assess the effectiveness of the Computing curriculum.
  • Analyze data on student performance and satisfaction to inform curriculum revisions.
  • Manage the budget and resources allocated for the Computing curriculum.
  • Oversee the scheduling and delivery of Computing courses.
  • Supervise course facilitators and support staff.
  • Actively participate in faculty committees and contribute to the academic governance of the institution.

Qualifications:

  • Essential Skills: Ph.D., Computing Research, Artificial Intelligence, Curriculum Design.
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computing, or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in computing research (e.g., peer-reviewed publications) and/or practical applications (e.g., patents, product designs).
  • Experience in undergraduate teaching.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum design, development, and assessment.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience collaborating with industry partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in developing online or blended learning courses.
  • Familiarity with computing ethics and its social implications.
  • Publications in computing-related journals or conferences.
