IMMEDIATE VACANCIES:
Permanent Full-Time - Wailuku

As a key member of the emergency management team, you will independently execute a range of responsibilities associated with the formulation, evaluation, and upkeep of essential plans and protocols relevant to various sectors of the emergency management program for the County of Maui.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, review, and sustain operational plans and procedures for emergency response and disaster management.
  • Analyze federal, state, and local regulations to identify necessary updates and provide recommendations to the Civil Defense Administrator.
  • Conduct training sessions for government officials, community stakeholders, and volunteers on emergency preparedness and Civil Defense operations.
  • Organize and maintain documentation related to functional areas, including reports and studies; coordinate activities and projects within the functional area.
  • Oversee the operational plans for emergency communication systems and ensure the maintenance and enhancement of related technology.
  • Gather and compile logistical and resource management data from various departments and organizations, preparing comprehensive reports for the Civil Defense Administrator.
  • Coordinate damage assessment and disaster recovery procedures, facilitating the County's involvement in assistance programs for disaster victims.
  • Engage in grant research, procurement, and administration.
  • Participate in emergency management meetings and conferences.
  • Represent the department in public engagements, including emergency preparedness presentations and disaster demonstrations.
  • Assist in the activation and staffing of the Emergency Operation Center and contribute to emergency exercises.
  • Be available 24/7 to respond to emergencies or disasters as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field, along with three years of professional experience in emergency management program development and maintenance.

Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with civil defense laws and operations, emergency management principles, program planning, and community resources. Ability to develop and implement programs, conduct research, and communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Health and Physical Condition:
Applicants must meet health and physical condition standards necessary for the performance of duties.

Special Working Conditions:
Availability for after-hours, weekend, and holiday work as required.
