Vice President of Capital Management Oversight

Position Overview
The Finance Chief Risk Office (FinCRO) is responsible for overseeing risk management within the Finance sector, ensuring effective risk challenge and mitigation concerning capital, liquidity, interest rate risk, and treasury investments. This role also guarantees compliance with all regulatory requirements related to risk. The team is tasked with managing key risk methodologies and calculations, including CECL and IFRS9 for credit reserves, as well as Basel Advanced RWA. Within FinCRO, the Regulatory Capital Risk Management (RCRM) team provides independent oversight for capital management, planning, forecasting, recovery, resolution planning, and capital reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough review and challenge activities for profit and loss statements and balance sheets through regular engagement with the first line of defense via walkthroughs and governance meetings.
- Maintain a comprehensive perspective across capital planning components, developing detailed analyses to evaluate the reasonableness of results and ensure transparency in governance, methodologies, and processes.
- Acquire a robust understanding of forecasting methodologies across various business units, products, and risks to drive analytical insights, identify trends, and predict outcomes.
- Present findings and observations during review sessions with the Capital Planning Review Team (CPRT).
- Create presentation materials and review templates, documenting key takeaways from risk and challenge meetings.
- Lead in-depth analyses related to specific forecast components to enhance understanding of underlying drivers and support informed decision-making.
- Oversee ad-hoc analyses, including competitor and peer evaluations.
- Deliver analytical insights to senior stakeholders within the Finance CRO and the first line of defense.
- Guide the development of reports and tools to improve analytical capabilities.
- Manage strategic projects through independent research and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Assist with regulatory examinations, responses to regulatory feedback, execution of corrective actions, and internal audit reviews; engage with regulators and external stakeholders.
- Supervise the development of controls and automation in the reporting process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information presented to senior management, fostering a strong control environment within the CPRT.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the financial services sector, preferably with a Tier-1 institution or regulatory body, or top-tier consulting experience; demonstrated expertise in macroeconomic and banking analysis.
- Experience in managing large datasets and deriving insights for various profit and loss components.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Tableau, SQL, SP&P CapIQ/SNL, or Bloomberg is advantageous.
- Relevant experience with Capital Planning and Adequacy processes, including capital regulatory requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proactive self-starter with a solid project management approach.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Economics, Data Analytics/Sciences) is required; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Finance, MS in Business Analytics) is preferred.
- Additional finance-focused education or certifications (CFA, CPA, FRM) are beneficial.
