Patient Service Coordinator Ambulatory I

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Coordinator Ambulatory I to join our team at Hennepin County Medical Center. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient experience and ensuring seamless registration and scheduling processes.
Key Responsibilities- Welcome patients and guests in a friendly and professional manner, adhering to our high standards of customer service.
- Provide navigation assistance to patients and guests, ensuring they receive the necessary support and information.
- Utilize our electronic health record system to perform patient check-in, point of service collections, registration, and patient check-out, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Verify insurance accuracy through real-time eligibility and benefit engine, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage patient financial transactions, including cash collections, credit/debit card transactions, and daily reconciliation.
- Promote the organization and maintain clinic efficiency, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
- Check-out patients, provide scheduling support for contracted providers and specialty departments, and manage special patient needs upon request.
- Maintain clerical pool in-basket messages, completing them appropriately based on service line agreements and urgency.
- Receive and create encounters for medical forms, delivering them to the clinical team in a timely manner.
- Assist with processing time-sensitive patient needs, such as patient forms and other documents.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience in a related field and/or six months of front-of-house experience.
- One year of customer service experience.
- Ability to work cohesively and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment.
- Ability to respond appropriately to shifting priorities.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments.
- Consistently exceeds quality and productivity standards, including accuracy in patient registrations and scheduling.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies and procedures.
- Technical proficiency in basic computer skills and applications, such as Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- 6 months of previous HHS experience.
- Associate degree in healthcare or business concentration preferred.
- Certification from HFMA, NAHAM, or HBI Patient Access Certification.
- Experience with electronic health records, preferably Epic.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Experience with different payers/insurance requirements.
- Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish or English/Somali or other languages, including ASL (not required).
