Job Summary

Kamatics Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Machinist Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control machines to produce high-quality metal parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate various machining equipment, including mills, lathes, and honing machines, to produce metal parts with exacting tolerances and dimensions.
  • Perform intricate hand grinding operations, such as trimming parts, polishing surfaces, and blending metal parts to exact tolerances and dimensions.
  • Interpret complicated blueprints, sketches, specifications, and geometrical dimensions to solve problems related to work-holding arrangements, unusual materials, machine settings, tools, and product specifications.
  • Plan and execute machining operations, including turning, boring, threading, and facing on sheet metal pieces, castings, forgings, bar, and plate stock.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and machinist's hand tools to perform first-piece OAP inspection and verify quality in accordance with SOP.
  • Follow all safety regulations and exercise care in handling parts and operating machinery.
  • Participate in cell or fabrication projects and assist with process improvements, methods, solutions, and procedures to enhance program quality, cost, and scheduling.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, plus additional instruction equivalent to 3 years of applied training in a particular or specialized occupation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles.
  • Ability to interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
  • Proficient with the use of various types of precision measuring instruments.
  • Capable of making minor modifications to NC/CNC equipment programs.
  • Able to use a personal computer to input data.
