Labor One Staffing is seeking experienced TIG Pipe Welding Specialists for opportunities in the maritime industry.

Position Overview:
The role involves planning, laying out, welding, installing, testing, and repairing various types of piping and similar tubular products in accordance with established plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Collaboration with other trades as directed by supervisors is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental regulations while executing tasks.
  • Maintain regular attendance and be prepared to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
  • Execute welds to the specified standards using the appropriate equipment and materials.
  • Install and verify the functionality of high-pressure steel pipes and fittings.
  • Repair and replace damaged piping; fabricate and install metal fittings; install supports, valves, and other control equipment; secure parts for welding using bolts, clamps, or welds.
  • Utilize appropriate hand and power tools to accurately measure, cut, assemble, weld, and install all types of pipes and similar tubular products.
  • Test installed piping systems and install related items according to applicable plans and specifications.
  • Set up equipment and weld components using various welding techniques.
  • Troubleshoot equipment as necessary.
  • Produce high-quality welds, including watertight penetrations with a variety of materials.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, with three to five years of pipe welding experience preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, processes, and techniques used in measuring, fitting, and welding steel.
  • X-ray pipe welding experience is required, with the ability to weld pipe in all positions.
  • Familiarity with welding symbols, ship terminology, and OSHA and ABS standards is essential.
  • Must successfully complete the SMAW 6G Pipe Test to achieve ABS Certification.
Skills:
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Common sense understanding to execute written and verbal directives.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Effective communication skills to present information and respond to inquiries.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regular communication is required while performing job duties.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks are necessary.
  • This position is physically demanding, requiring bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as well as withstand extreme temperatures, is essential.
