Job Summary:

Halff is seeking a highly skilled Utility Engineer/Coordinator EIT to join our team in North Austin. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for coordinating utility-related activities, ensuring smooth and efficient installations, relocations, and upgrades. Your expertise in utility systems, research methods, and local, state, and federal regulations will be essential in mitigating potential conflicts, delays, and cost overruns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of utility systems, including electrical, water, sewer, gas, telecommunications, and other relevant infrastructure.
  • Conduct utility research, including utility mapping, GIS technologies, and document review, to identify potential issues and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project teams, utility companies, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement effective project management strategies to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
  • Utilize excellent communication and negotiation skills to facilitate collaboration among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exercise problem-solving aptitude to address unexpected utility conflicts and challenges.
  • Provide attention to detail in reviewing utility plans and construction plans to identify potential issues.
  • Employ leadership skills to guide junior team members and lead coordination efforts.
  • Develop familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, GIS software, and Microsoft Office suite.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in utility coordination, with a proven track record of successfully managing utility aspects of engineering projects.
  • Preferred licensed Engineer In Training (EIT) in the State of Texas or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience in utility research, coordination plan development, and utility design review.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Must have good communication skills and be well organized.
  • Pre-certified in TxDOT work categories Utility Adjustment Coordination and Utility Management & Coordination Oversight is a plus.
  • Pre-certified in TxDOT work categories Subsurface Utility Engineering and Utility Engineering is a plus.
