Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of utility systems, including electrical, water, sewer, gas, telecommunications, and other relevant infrastructure.
  • Conduct utility research using various methods, including utility mapping, GIS technologies, and document review.
  • Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal regulations related to utility coordination and construction.
  • Utilize effective project management skills to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate communication and negotiation.
  • Exercise problem-solving skills to address unexpected utility conflicts and challenges.
  • Review utility plans and construction plans to identify potential issues.
  • Lead coordination efforts and guide junior team members.
  • Develop familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, GIS software, and Microsoft Office suite.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in utility coordination, with a proven track record of successfully managing utility aspects of engineering projects.
  • Preferred licensed Engineer In Training (EIT) in the State of Texas or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience in utility research, coordination plan development, and utility design review.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Good communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Pre-certified in TxDOT work categories Utility Adjustment Coordination and Utility Management & Coordination Oversight is a plus.
  • Pre-certified in TxDOT work categories Subsurface Utility Engineering and Utility Engineering is a plus.
