Position Overview

At KIPP KC, every member of our Team & Family plays an essential role in guiding our students toward their futures. Our educators are passionate advocates, tirelessly working to connect students and families with opportunities that foster empowerment and choice. As a Middle School Special Education Teacher, you will provide outstanding instruction and evaluate student progress. Your commitment to continuous improvement will drive you to offer both academic and cultural support to your school community. You will be deeply invested in educational equity, fostering relationships with students and families to ensure they feel safe, valued, and understood.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Planning and Evaluation
  • Design or adapt comprehensive, standards-aligned unit and lesson plans that cater to the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Utilize assessment data to adjust both short-term and long-term instructional strategies to enhance student achievement.
  • Welcome and incorporate constructive feedback as part of your professional growth.
  • Maintain precise records, including grading and data tracking systems.
Academic and Cultural Engagement
  • Take personal accountability for the academic success of your students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to foster an environment that encourages critical thinking and academic excellence.
  • Build and sustain trust-based relationships with students and their families.
  • Engage in daily school activities, including supervisory roles during meals and transitions.
  • Participate in essential school functions such as staff meetings and family engagement events.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities with punctuality and consistency in meeting deadlines.
  • Model and uphold the cultural values of the school.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree

• Strong focus on achieving results and a commitment to collaborative teamwork

• Deep dedication to educational equity and serving underserved populations

• Valid teaching license in Missouri with necessary certification for the assigned subject and grade level

• Proven knowledge in the core subject area

• Successful completion of a background check

Compensation and Benefits

Salary for this role is competitive and based on experience. KIPP KC also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plans.
