Position Summary:
We are in search of a dedicated French immersion Science Educator for grades 6-8 who utilizes diverse instructional strategies to cater to various learning preferences and skill levels. The ideal candidate will design engaging and thought-provoking lessons that align with the curriculum, consider child development, and accommodate the unique abilities of each student. This role promotes an inclusive classroom environment that values the diverse perspectives and backgrounds of students, fostering a deeper understanding of the world.
Position Status:
This is a full-time role at Académie Lafayette, classified as an exempt position under U.S. Department of Labor regulations.
Reporting Structure:
The Science Educator will report directly to the principal of their respective campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize a range of teaching techniques to engage students with varying learning styles and capabilities.
- Develop stimulating and relevant lesson plans that demonstrate a solid understanding of the curriculum and the developmental needs of students.
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that embraces the diverse backgrounds of students and encourages global awareness.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, colleagues, and administrators, addressing any concerns in a timely manner.
- Employ various assessment methods and student data to guide instructional practices.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment with clear expectations, routines, and procedures for classwork, homework, and assessments.
- Promote a culture of literacy and inquiry through the use of contemporary literature and instructional resources that enhance critical thinking skills.
- Adhere to grade reporting timelines and school-wide protocols for monitoring and providing feedback on student progress.
- Prepare substitute plans and communicate with substitutes in advance when necessary.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge in the subject area.
- Participate in professional goal setting and review processes with the assigned administrator.
- Attend and contribute to all divisional and departmental faculty meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
- Possess or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate or its equivalent from the home country.
- Demonstrated teaching experience; international candidates requiring a visa must have at least 2 years of teaching experience.
- Exhibit strong classroom management capabilities.
- Experience in an International Baccalaureate program, particularly in Middle Years and/or Diploma (MYP/DP), is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills essential for a multicultural educational setting.
- Able to manage multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in integrating technology to enhance and transform learning experiences.
