Reports To: Building Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB PURPOSE:

The role involves instructing students in various subjects within public secondary education settings by executing the following responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates learning by delivering lectures, demonstrating concepts, and utilizing multimedia resources to enhance presentations.
  • Develops course objectives and outlines in accordance with curriculum standards and educational requirements.
  • Assigns tasks and evaluates homework submissions.
  • Administers assessments to gauge student progress, documents outcomes, and communicates results to parents.
  • Maintains accurate attendance records.
  • Ensures a disciplined classroom environment.
  • Engages with parents to discuss student achievements and challenges.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and educational conferences.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities such as leading extracurricular activities, guiding students in course selection, and providing academic counseling.
  • Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in Secondary Education from the relevant state authority.
SUCCESS FACTORS:
  • Proven experience and/or training in effective teaching methodologies for secondary education.
  • Experience teaching in urban educational environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill these functions.

This position requires the employee to: sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and fingers; bend, stoop, and lift objects weighing at least ten pounds. The role may occasionally require stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Visual abilities must include mono and color vision, close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

Work Schedule: 8 hours per day; 5 days a week; 187 work days
