Job Overview

Position: Senior Estimation Engineer

Reporting To: Estimating Manager

Department: Estimating

The Senior Estimation Engineer is accountable for contributing to the feasibility, profitability, prioritization, preparation, and coordination of Request for Quotations (RFQs). This role involves providing the Estimating Department with essential details regarding personnel, machinery, materials, and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and articulate processing labor estimates, capital requirements, and comprehend CSR in relation to quotations prior to project award.
  • Monitor technological advancements and formulate cost reduction strategies and recommendations based on these trends for inclusion in quotations.
  • Assess cost estimates during the modification process and inform stakeholders of the financial implications of changes.
  • Analyze supplier quotations and furnish relevant information and data.
  • Collaborate with estimating and engineering teams to conduct initial evaluations of RFQs regarding viability, profitability, and available capacity.
  • Engage in manufacturing feasibility assessments alongside a team focused on new product concepts and preliminary designs.
  • Review and scrutinize existing processes, personnel, and materials during Engineering Change Request evaluations.
  • Participate in customer cost reduction surveys as required.
  • Complete expedited 'rapid response' RFQs as assigned.
  • Assist the Accounting department post-purchase order to ensure accuracy between purchase orders and quoted costs.
  • Coordinate with Program Management and Engineering on engineering change requests for cost adjustments.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to and support all company safety standards and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including project timeline software.
  • Experience with Customer Portals and Plex.
  • Data entry proficiency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Understanding of cost accounting principles and estimating techniques.
  • Technical acumen.
  • Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
  • Basic knowledge of algebra, geometry, and finance.
  • Ability to create reports and business correspondence.
  • Skill in managing multiple projects concurrently.
