About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimating Manager to join our team at Akin Gump. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for leading the overall management of the electrical trade for a project, in both an estimating and preconstruction capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of comprehensive scopes of work and qualification development for electrical trade specialization
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish budget and bid strategies
  • Participate in constructability reviews and develop specific systems analyses
  • Develop and implement Value Engineering and Alternates lists/logs
  • Strategy development for GMP's and competitive bids
  • Participate in project meetings and client presentations as required
  • Build relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors
  • Actively participate in networking events and organizations
Requirements
  • A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in electrical estimating or electrical engineering design experience in commercial construction
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction management, including safety, quality, and sustainability standards
  • Ability to develop good relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors
  • Decision-making, research, and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Time management with the ability to organize, assess, and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization
  • MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalent construction experience
  • Pricing experience with electrical systems, including dry utilities
  • Experience presenting all Electrical estimates to clients
  • Experience estimating with a variety of building types
  • Quantity take-off software experience (On Screen Take-off or Sketch-up preferred)
  • PDF editor software experience (Bluebeam preferred)
  • Experience working with residential, multi-family, office, education, healthcare, and science and technology markets
  • Experience with Mechanical Systems
