Role Summary:
The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by leading engaging programs that cater to their interests and promote an active lifestyle. This position supports the Activity Director in executing daily activities and is responsible for facilitating meaningful experiences tailored to the needs of memory care residents, contributing positively to their physical, mental, and social health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate designated activity programs.
- Provide a variety of recreational options for residents, ensuring adequate supervision for each event.
- Encourage resident participation through motivation and engagement.
- Communicate upcoming activities and maintain an updated schedule on community boards.
- Welcome new residents, fostering inclusion and connection with others who share similar interests.
- Assist in organizing seasonal parties and events, including decorations and monthly birthday celebrations for residents.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all confidentiality policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; three to six months of relevant experience or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
- Ability to effectively communicate information in individual and small group settings.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs. independently.
- Able to bend, reach, and work in confined spaces.
- Competent in pushing and pulling equipment and furnishings.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
