POSITION OVERVIEW

The Quarry Plant Manager is accountable for overseeing the operational management of two limestone aggregate facilities, with a production capacity of 2.3 million tons per year, situated in the Texas region.

Key responsibilities encompass site planning, pit development, quality control, and maintenance functions. Collaborate closely with maintenance teams to monitor, suggest, and execute repairs and routine upkeep of equipment and facilities. Investigate unusual operational incidents or equipment malfunctions to identify causes; make necessary adjustments, repairs, and modifications. Oversee all mine planning, operational, financial, safety, environmental, personnel, and community relations responsibilities at the mine, adhering to company protocols, policies, and guidelines, as well as compliance with regulatory agencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the team to operate injury-free within a behavior-based safety framework.
  • Foster teamwork. Provide robust leadership, training, team building, and supervision to the management team and a workforce of over 55 employees.
  • Ensure effective quality control measures are implemented to meet specifications.
  • Maintain all equipment in optimal working condition. Employ predictive and preventative maintenance strategies to achieve equipment uptime goals.
  • Monitor production processes and initiate continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage all aspects of mine planning, operations, finances, safety, environmental concerns, personnel, and community relations in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate work requirements with district, division, and corporate support teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Mining or Civil) or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience in plant management, ideally within the mining sector.
  • Experience in managing an aggregate rail facility is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • In-depth understanding of MSHA regulations and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Solid grasp of aggregate processing and equipment.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of fostering positive relationships with company and regulatory personnel.
  • Strong leadership capabilities; proven ability to lead, manage, and inspire teams.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a large workforce.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; adept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate a computer.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain at outdoor facilities.
  • Capability to climb ladders and steps up to approximately 50 feet.
  • Able to work at heights on platforms and catwalks.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds for distances up to 50 feet.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and squat for safety inspections and other tasks.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time salaried position, which may require extended hours and occasional weekend work.

TRAVEL

Regular local travel will be necessary, primarily within the two quarries and district office. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be required for training and development.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most of the work will be conducted outdoors, requiring adaptability to various weather conditions. Must be able to work in environments with noise levels up to 85 decibels.
