  • Organize, plan, and execute mid to large-scale commissioning projects and programs.
  • Engage with clients and contractors to identify and cultivate energy efficiency projects from initial assessment through to installation and performance measurement.
  • Analyze HVAC systems alongside building automation systems and independent data loggers to diagnose operational issues and identify inefficient control sequences.
  • Oversee on-site testing of HVAC, lighting, power, and control systems in both new and existing facilities in partnership with operations and maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Assess on-site ASHRAE energy audits and condition evaluations to pinpoint applicable and cost-effective energy efficiency and demand response strategies.

  • Provide detailed evaluations, measurement and verification reports, and retro-commissioning plans for existing facilities.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement conceptual designs for energy efficiency projects focusing on operational sequences.
  • Manage building energy use simulations to model alternatives for capturing energy savings.
  • Consult with clients throughout the implementation phase.
  • Report on the measurement and verification of completed projects.
  • Conduct design reviews and offer recommendations for enhancements.
  • Maintain comprehensive and precise project records, including data, documentation, and reports.
  • Collaborate with clients to enhance understanding of systems and design intent, reviewing operational modes, sequences of operations, and specifics of equipment, operations, and maintenance.
  • Commission both retrofits and new constructions.
  • Develop and refine methodologies, tools, and standards to support an evolving commissioning practice.
  • Foster and maintain effective relationships with existing and prospective clients, customers, and contractors to drive business development.
  • Responsible for sales pursuits and proposal development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power & Controls, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • A minimum of 17 years of experience in retro-commissioning and energy evaluation of complex HVAC, lighting, power, and control systems.
  • Expertise in evaluating and troubleshooting systems using various stand-alone monitoring equipment such as flow meters, temperature loggers, and electrical meters.
  • Strong skills in facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to assess energy-consuming systems, identify efficiencies, quantify energy losses, and determine costs.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing work plans, schedules, and budgets while providing leadership to diverse project teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in combined heat and power/cogeneration, central utility plants, data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, water/wastewater facilities, controls, building envelope, TAB, NETA electrical testing, renewable energy, and other specialties is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of DOE-2, eQUEST, Energy Pro, and other modeling software.
  • Ability to adhere to site safety protocols, including electrical safety.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build and maintain relationships with contractors and field personnel.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Certification in the Commissioning Process, as an Energy Manager, or LEED Accreditation is a plus.
  • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain access authorization to facilities and data of existing and potential clients, including but not limited to government, aerospace, military, food and consumer product manufacturers, pharmaceuticals, laboratories, and others necessary to execute work.
