Policy Specialist for Conflict Management and Peacemaking

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is seeking an experienced Policy Specialist to join its Learning, Evaluation, and Research (LER) team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior policymakers and practitioners in the conflict management and peacemaking field to disseminate the findings and recommendations from the recently completed project, Peacemaking in a Turbulent World.
The Policy Specialist will refine and package the current project findings to make them relevant and practical for policy planners and implementors in the U.S. government, the United Nations, other international organizations, and nongovernmental organizations (NGO). The work will include identifying the most relevant audiences, designing a dissemination/engagement strategy, and working with the LER team to implement the strategy.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's level degree and 8-10 years of demonstrated experience in conflict management and peacebuilding, with direct relevant experience in at least one of the following: the U.S. government, a multilateral agency, or international non-governmental organization (NGO).
The Policy Specialist will be responsible for:
- Providing a report that identifies the most relevant audiences
- Producing a report that packages current findings to make them relevant and practical for policy planners and implementors
- Producing a report outlining a dissemination/engagement strategy for LER to further the reach of the findings and recommendations
- Coordinating with the LER team to implement the strategy through events and briefing papers
The selected contractor will be expected to provide services for 3 months. A tentative timeline for the completion of deliverables is provided below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a dissemination/engagement strategy to promote the uptake of the recommendations among governmental and nongovernmental strategic planners and other key decision-makers at the policy level
- Identify the most relevant audiences for the findings and recommendations
- Package current findings to make them relevant and practical for policy planners and implementors
- Coordinate with the LER team to implement the strategy through events and briefing papers
Requirements:
- Master's level degree in a relevant field
- 8-10 years of demonstrated experience in conflict management and peacebuilding
- Direct relevant experience in at least one of the following: the U.S. government, a multilateral agency, or international non-governmental organization (NGO)
