At Ellis Medicine, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead HVAC Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for planning, performing, and delegating the installation, testing, inspection, preventative maintenance, and repairs involving heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration-related control systems throughout our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, perform, and delegate the installation, testing, inspection, preventative maintenance, and repairs involving HVAC and refrigeration-related control systems.
  • Receive and review work orders, distribute assignments to staff, and coordinate and schedule projects.
  • Estimate time and materials to perform required tasks and order stock as needed.
  • Provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff by ensuring optimum operation of systems.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Coordinate daily HVAC and refrigeration work performed within the department.
  • Respond to emergency repair situations and make recommendations to improve processes and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years' of experience in the maintenance field in a healthcare facility required.
  • Certification: Electrical or Plumbing License required or HVAC Certification required.

• Assigns and monitors work orders and confirms their completion.
• Responsible for the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the preventative maintenance systems.
• Assists in completing all necessary reports and applications for permits.
• Maintains safe and clean equipment and areas surrounding the equipment.
• Troubleshoots, repairs equipment, systems and installs new equipment to include Automated Logic Controls, humidification, HVAC equipment and steam systems.
• Works with regulatory agencies to ensure all licenses and operating permits and cooling systems; JCAHO, NFPA, NYSDEC, EPA, NYSDOH, etc.
• Assists in reviewing and developing department policies and procedures.
• Coaches, mentors and trains staff, conducts meetings as needed, and administers performance reviews and discipline.
• Participates in the interview and hiring process of prospective candidates.
• Completes required training as assigned.
• Complies with Hospital and department policies, work rules and requirements.
