Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our Surgical and Orthopedic team. This role involves providing consultative coverage for all surgical and orthopedic patients, ensuring comprehensive care from the Emergency Department through to hospital floors.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough history and physical examinations.
- Order and interpret laboratory and radiological tests.
- Diagnose conditions and collaborate with attending physicians for optimal patient care.
- Perform daily rounds on surgical and orthopedic patients to monitor their clinical status.
- Assist with rounding and discharges for various surgical specialties, including cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and proficiency in:
- Casting and splinting techniques.
- Fracture or dislocation reductions.
- Performing hematoma and digital nerve blocks.
- Conducting arthrocentesis and suturing.
- Incision and drainage of abscesses, as well as local wound care.
Engage with interdisciplinary teams to discuss patient care plans and ensure effective communication with patients and their families. Responsibilities also include:
- Discharging patients with appropriate follow-up care and prescriptions.
- Performing dressing changes and managing wound vac placements.
- Removing chest tubes as necessary.
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program.
- 1-3 years of experience in an operating room setting is preferred.
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Certification in BLS and ACLS.
- Registered with the appropriate state authorities.
