Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ambulatory Care Nurse to join our team at NYU Langone Health System. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients in an ambulatory setting, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests to assess patient health
  • Collect patient health history and record information in electronic health records
  • Provide information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans
  • Administer medications, including vaccinations, IV therapy, and oxygen administration
  • Assess and monitor patient responses to various treatments, procedures, and anesthesia
  • Consult with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans for patients
  • Direct, supervise, and delegate to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and technicians as needed to support patient flow and efficiency
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Support the coordination, integration, communication, implementation, and performance evaluation of nursing practice and clinical policies and procedures
  • Ensure clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting
  • Support key quality initiatives, such as MIPS Care gap management, to impact clinical outcome measures
  • Participate in designated activities related to NYULH clinical standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies
  • Support the missions, philosophy, standards, goals, and objectives of NYULH Departments of Nursing and FPG
Professional Responsibilities
  • Engage in self-assessment and participate in activities to promote own professional growth and development
  • Seek, acquire, and maintain current nursing knowledge and competence to fulfill responsibilities as FGP Ambulatory Nurse
  • Procure and apply new knowledge related to medical treatment and technology
  • Utilize resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development in clinical practice
Implementation/Provision of Care
  • Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed providers, including physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, certified midwives, physician assistants, and podiatrists
  • Assess patients, identify unmet patient needs, and plan comprehensive care to meet those needs in relation to the patient's illness, condition, or disability
  • Case finding: Identify unidentified co-morbidities or emergent complications and report to the provider so that an intervention may be ordered
  • Co-ordinate: Integrate care with other healthcare providers, such as respiratory therapists, physical therapists, social workers, physicians, nurse practitioners, dieticians, navigators, and discharge planners
Health Promotion & Education
  • Identify through case finding and critical analysis patient, family, and/or community deviations from health and wellbeing; advocate for, initiate, and/or recommend appropriate actions, including the establishment of safe environments
  • Collect patient healthcare data systematically and continuously using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments
  • Report deviations requiring medical diagnosis and/or treatment to the provider
  • Escalate urgent/emergent deviations to medical provider and/or emergency care
Requirements
  • A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is highly preferred; a Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing requires a minimum of one year experience in conjunction with plans to earn a baccalaureate degree
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills
