**The Role**
We're seeking a skilled Category Merchant to join our team. As a Category Merchant, you will be responsible for setting the strategy and driving growth of the business for assigned categories. This includes product selection, vendor negotiation, promotions, and providing leadership to the merchandise team.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement category strategies to drive growth, profitability, and customer experience.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to achieve financial objectives.
- Build strong relationships with the vendor community and exercise flexibility in approach to negotiations.
- Oversee the development of sales and margin plans and sales forecasts for assigned categories.
- Communicate merchandising strategies to cross-functional teams to ensure proper and timely execution of strategy.
- Connect strategies to business operations and maintain an understanding of business operational goals and challenges.
- Responsible for price management for assigned categories, including price indexing and achievement of price targets.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop pricing, promotional, and campaign strategies for assigned categories.
- Continually monitor merchandising performance and promptly react to changes in the business to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Provide leadership and training to the merchandise team.
- Provide the team with frequent and actionable feedback and professional development opportunities.
**Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree in business or operations-related field.
- 4+ years of related merchandising/category management experience.
- Negotiation skills and decision-making ability.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational skills.
