Role Summary

As an Ambulatory Triage Nurse (RN), you will play a crucial role in our Care Team under the guidance of the Nurse Manager and Practice Supervisor. Your primary responsibility will be to manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients and healthcare facilities, addressing urgent concerns, medication inquiries, and care coordination needs that require timely nursing triage. This position offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing for remote work after an initial onsite training period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of urgent and non-urgent patient calls, acting as an extension of the healthcare provider.
  • Collaborate with specialty providers to ensure effective patient care.
  • Provide guidance on acute interventions for both stable and unstable patients via phone.
  • Develop and implement care plans for each call using established protocols.
  • Document all interactions in accordance with Orlando Health policies.
  • Utilize critical thinking to deliver culturally and age-appropriate care.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to reassure callers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in various technology platforms utilized by Orlando Health.
  • Recognize changes in patient status and escalate care as necessary.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments based on patient needs.
  • Adhere to standards regarding break times and availability.
  • Strive to provide exceptional patient service and quality care.
  • Process prescription refills following established protocols.
  • Clearly communicate care plans to patients, ensuring their understanding.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and MyChart information.
  • Exhibit punctuality and compliance with attendance policies.
  • Act as a patient advocate, utilizing resources for ethical decision-making.
  • Serve as a role model for new staff while adapting to training needs.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational policies.
  • Utilize expert resources to resolve complex situations.
  • Manage time effectively to meet service standards.
  • Handle stressful situations with professionalism and exceptional customer service.
  • Participate in required meetings and contribute to team projects.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain licensure.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN license in the State of Florida.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in a specialty area or five years across multiple specialties.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR is required.
