Role Summary
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and as a vital member of the Care Team, the Ambulatory Triage Nurse (RN) will manage a high volume of patient calls, addressing urgent and non-urgent medical inquiries, medication concerns, and care coordination needs. This role offers a flexible work environment, allowing for remote work after an initial training period in the call center.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of incoming patient calls, providing expert triage for both urgent and routine cases.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure effective patient care and follow-up.
- Deliver guidance on acute interventions for patients, utilizing established nursing protocols.
- Develop and implement care plans based on patient needs, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in accordance with organizational policies.
- Exhibit critical thinking and cultural competence in delivering age-appropriate care.
- Utilize strong interpersonal skills to reassure and support patients in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in various healthcare technologies and software.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and escalate care as necessary.
- Assist in scheduling appointments based on clinical urgency and patient needs.
- Maintain compliance with organizational standards regarding attendance and performance.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring ethical decision-making for optimal outcomes.
- Provide mentorship to new staff while adapting to training requirements.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
- Participate in professional development and maintain required licensure.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current RN license in the State of Florida.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience in a relevant specialty.
- Experience with EPIC EMR is required.
