Role Summary

As an Ambulatory Triage Nurse (RN), you will operate under the guidance of the Nurse Manager and collaborate with the Care Team to manage a high volume of patient calls. Your primary responsibility will be to address urgent and non-urgent medical inquiries, providing essential triage and care coordination. This role offers the flexibility of remote work after an initial onsite training period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of incoming patient calls, addressing both urgent and non-urgent concerns.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure effective patient care.
  • Deliver guidance on acute interventions for patients, utilizing the nursing process.
  • Develop and implement care plans based on established protocols.
  • Document all patient interactions in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Exhibit critical thinking and knowledge necessary for providing age-appropriate care.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to reassure callers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in various technology platforms utilized by Orlando Health.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare providers.
  • Recognize changes in patient conditions and escalate care as necessary.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments based on patient needs.
  • Adhere to established standards regarding work hours and attendance.
  • Provide exemplary patient service with a focus on quality care.
  • Process prescription refills in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Ensure patients understand their care plans before concluding calls.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update MyChart information as needed.
  • Act as a patient advocate, utilizing resources to support ethical decision-making.
  • Serve as a role model for new team members and assist in their training.
  • Work independently while efficiently managing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain necessary licensure.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN license in the State of Florida.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in a relevant specialty.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR is required.
