Job Summary

Cummings Electrical is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Construction Management Intern to join our team. As an Electrical Construction Management Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical construction and develop your skills in project management, safety, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing and developing the construction schedule, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Prepare and maintain project recordkeeping and correspondence functions, including daily and weekly reports, photographs, and memorandums.
  • Compile, process, and confirm daily labor timesheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating work groups on the jobsite, supervising field operations, and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Assist in field surveying and work layout support, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Obtain information and approvals for processing shop drawings and submittals, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Order and schedule material deliveries, verifying shipment and documentation, and ensuring timely receipt of materials.
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Assist in monitoring cost control, quality, productivity, and safety on projects, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Disseminate construction information to appropriate parties, ensuring timely communication and coordination.
  • Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of any changes, ensuring timely adjustments to project schedules and budgets.
  • Uphold safe working conditions and preventative safety measures, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive working environment for the entire site team, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Working Conditions
  • Work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Potties).
  • Carry and relocate ladders, scaffolds, and other equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Work at various heights, up to 90 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other safe work areas.
  • Work in restricted areas, such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat and safety glasses) at all times, and respirator when required.
  • Work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with overtime as required, and night shifts.
Physical Functions
  • Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds, 20 times per day.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Constantly move on your feet.
  • Climb ladders (all types).
  • Complete overhead work for full-day assignments.
  • Make transitions from employee parking areas or streets into construction work areas and access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by OSHA-approved site construction ladders or stairs still under construction.
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Possess good hearing (normal or corrected).
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, including jobsite directions, maps, and instructional manuals.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
Qualifications
  • Must be actively enrolled in a four-year Bachelor's degree program with at least two years of education and demonstrate interest in the electrical construction industry.
  • Ability to relocate to DFW for the duration of the program.
  • Hold a strong academic record.
  • Excellent communication and written communication skills.
  • Collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs.
  • Exhibits professionalism, attention to detail, and desire to work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial building construction activities.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with diverse groups of people.
  • Capable of identifying problems and recommending corrective actions.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to obtain a Texas Electrical Apprentice License.
