Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to manage the company's financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounts Payable (AP):
    • Process, verify, and reconcile invoices and payments.
    • Monitor and ensure timely payment of vendor invoices.
    • Resolve any discrepancies in billing and payments.
    • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and accounts.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR):
    • Generate client invoices and follow up on overdue payments.
    • Maintain accurate aging reports and monitor outstanding balances.
    • Assist in resolving billing issues with clients.
    • Reconcile customer accounts and process refunds or credits as necessary.
  • Invoicing:
    • Prepare and send invoices to clients in a timely manner.
    • Track invoice status and ensure prompt collection of funds.
    • Address client queries regarding invoices and payment terms.
  • Payroll:
    • Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll for employees.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations.
    • Maintain payroll records, process payroll adjustments, and manage employee deductions.
    • Coordinate with HR to manage benefits and tax-related changes.
  • General Accounting:
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
    • Review or prepare financial reports, including profit/loss statements and balance sheets.
    • Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
    • Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • 2+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Vantagepoint, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and bookkeeping practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Collaboration and team skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel and Word.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs at times.
