Position Overview

ECS Southwest, LLP is seeking a skilled Welding Quality Assurance Specialist to become part of our dedicated team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in a variety of intricate projects, conducting field evaluations and assessments while ensuring adherence to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Operations: Carry out evaluations, assessments, and sampling of diverse construction materials, including but not limited to soils, aggregates, concrete, and structural steel; Collaborate with senior technicians and project managers to fulfill project specifications; Inspections may also occur in fabrication settings or on mechanical piping systems.
  • Evaluation Techniques: Execute routine assessments of structural and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, utilizing various methodologies and testing apparatus in compliance with industry documentation standards; Evaluations may encompass ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys and material verification.
  • Data Management: Conduct calculations and data analysis based on sampling and inspection results; Participate in drafting and administrative tasks as necessary; Ensure proper organization of field equipment and report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain regular communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers, updating the team on site conditions and any additional testing requests; Attend project meetings as required; Share test results and provide technical guidance to resolve issues.
  • Professional Development: Engage in training on ECS methodologies for project evaluations and inspections; Document findings accurately in line with accepted engineering practices; Mentor junior technicians in their professional growth.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of ASNT NDT Level II certification(s) along with at least two additional advanced certifications from recognized industry authorities.
  • Current pursuit of or ability to achieve maximum certifications in relevant categories.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 85 lbs and perform tasks requiring physical stamina.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance are mandatory.
  • Ability to provide reliable transportation for job site duties.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
  • Thorough understanding of heavy construction safety protocols.
  • Capability to work at elevated heights.
  • Proficient in using electronic devices for work-related tasks.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans effectively.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • If focused on NDE testing, the ability to calibrate NDE equipment is required.
